ABOUT MAX TAYLOR
I am a doctoral limited licensed clinical psychologist who is committed to his clients and their families as they work towards change and addressing issues impacting their daily lives. I strongly believe in the value and importance of the therapeutic relationship as nurturing this relationship can help be the vehicle for change. I offer a friendly, relaxed, and collaborative approach to therapy that works to empower and motivate my clients to achieve their goals and make changes that improve their lives. My approach to therapy is supportive, non-judgmental, and warm with an understanding that each client has experienced life in a manner that is authentically their own.
I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, a Master’s degree in School Psychology from Argosy University, Sarasota, and Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Florida School of Professional Psychology located in Tampa, Florida. I completed my APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at Park Center, Inc. located in Fort Wayne, Indiana with additional training at Park Centers’ psychiatric hospital walk-in clinic which provided short-term stabilization and support for those experiencing a psychiatric emergency. I have experience working with and providing therapy to children, adolescents, traditional and non-traditional college students, and adults in wide variety of settings that includes outpatient clinics, foster care facilities, community mental health clinics, college counseling centers, public schools, private practices, and in inpatient hospital settings..
My areas of interests are, but not limited to: Identity development, low self-esteem, psychological assessment, L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ issues, depression and anxiety concerns, men’s issues, family and relationship concerns, couples, oppositional behaviors, stress management, and college transitions.
I enjoy individual, couples, and family therapy of all ages but specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I offer a laid back judgement-free atmosphere to help individuals work through issues and challenges providing them support through approaches that are grounded in empirically-based research.
